Rhome, Tx, October 17, 2004: 24 drivers and 36 laps later it was Matt Barger who takes homes the hardware at the 4th (semi) Annual Uline Shootout at KAM Kartway with a clean sweep winning his heat, B-Main and A-Main Feature.
The drivers were broken into 6 groups of heats in a bracket style preliminary round with the six heat winners competing in a B-Main qualifier. The heat winners were:
Heat #1 – Roland Lucero
Heat #2 – Matt Barger
Heat #3 – Jeremy Barter
Heat #4 – Hadera Kiflom
Heat #5 – Ronnie Glockzin
Heat #6 – Seth Carlton
Continuing with the bracket style elimination, the 6 heat winners were broken into 2 B-Main events with the starting line up determined by draw with the top two advancing to the A-Main Feature. The first group was Barger, Lucero and Barter with Matt Lucero taking an impressive half lap lead by lap 6 of the 10 lap race. There was a battle for second place with a lead change in lap 5 as Jeremy Barter secured his spot in the Feature just beating out Roland Lucero.
The second group consisted of Kiflom, Golckzin and Carlton with Carlton adjusting to a fast lead by a straight-a-way by lap 3 and lapping the field with three to go. Glockzin lost his second place position under white when he decided to kiss the back stretch wall letting Kiflom cross the line under checker behind Carlton.
With the A-Main line up set, the powers that be decided to throw in a wildcard and added Jessica Bakhshi to the roster for the 20 lap feature. The line up had Matt Barger in the #70 on pole, Jeremy Barter in the #50 outside pole, Seth piloting the #19 inside second row with Hadera Kiflom in the #1 next to him and Jessica in the #05 rounding out the field in third row.
The number 19 had some power and Seth ran balls to the wall passing 2 karts in one lap after having caused a caution early on in the race. By midway, Carlton had hot shotted his way into second place before spinning out with 5 to go. Barger and Barter both lapped the field and were the last two to finish under checker on the lead lap.
Once again Barger maintained a lead of straight-a-way and took the checker with a lot of real estate between him and second place. The finish order was Barger, Barter, Carlton, Bakhshi and Kiflom.
